Several Bitzer semi-hermetic or screw compressors on one frame, from 18 HP up, staged to the cooling load.

How it works

A compressor rack mounts several compressors on one frame, piped and wired as one system. The compressors come on one at a time as the cooling load rises: one at low demand, more at peak. Each runs on its own, so if one stops, the others keep the room cold.

Compressor options (per compressor)

• Bitzer semi-hermetic two-stage (piston, for low temperatures): 5 to 30 HP
• Bitzer semi-hermetic compact CS series (screw): 50 to 320 HP

Features

• Original new Bitzer compressors, never copies
• Danfoss oil balance system on every compressor
• Danfoss pressure controller stages the compressors to the load
• Copper piping bent on a machine; corners are bent, not joined with fittings
• Schneider electrical protection and a Siemens PLC: phase, phase-loss and overcurrent protection, compressor start monitoring and discharge-temperature control

Choosing the condenser

Water-cooled where the site has a reliable supply of good-quality water; air-cooled otherwise.

Example

Frozen fruit storage taking in 10 tons a day at −25°C (−13°F), in +38°C (100°F) outdoor heat: four 18 HP Bitzer semi-hermetic compressors with EC fans and an economizer, serving a 32 × 12 × 5 m room built from 150 mm PU panels.
